Living nature!
Living people!
A living economy and culture!

…. and long may it continue!

Protecting the environment should not mean simply enclosing nature in a greenhouse, thereby bringing about stagnation. Rather, it involves bringing about understanding of our environment among our fellow human beings through education, tireless persuasion, and the presentation of its unique characteristics.

By means of a dynamic learning process, our community, the economy and young people can learn and understand how to interact with their environment in a sustainable manner.

The principles of BIOSA:

  • Our maxim is the preservation of the greatest possible degree of genetic diversity.
  • Human beings are part of nature, and as intelligent beings it is their duty to respect the environment, plants and animals.
  • We advocate the responsible and sustainable use of natural resources, in particular renewable raw materials.
  • Our actions, especially with regard to the use of natural resources, must be taken with future generations in mind.
  • We are committed to the principle of private property and the responsibility of owners for the areas entrusted to them.
  • BIOSA's environmental protection and research areas should not be the subject of marketing for tourism purposes and other disturbances to the environment, or to any other factors which pose a threat to it.
  • We study natural processes, with the aim that agriculture and forestry can benefit from our learning.
  • For each BIOSA project zone we aim to find individual protection and research concepts tailored to the local habitat; we reject the use of general patent remedies to problems.
  • We are committed to the eco-social market economy, and reject state intervention and coercion in matters of environmental protection. We are convinced that the duty of the owner and contract-based models can lead to meaningful and sustainable results.

Thus, our guiding principle in “TRANQUIL WATERS…” is:

Austria's realm of water is not the legacy of our ancestors,

but borrowed from our descendants!
